Pottery and Paintings for the month
I am working more on painting scenes, flowers and animals on my pottery. I am using watercolor designed especially for pottery. I paint on the greenware, fire to a bisque and then glaze with a clear glaze. The raccoon is a 16 inch sculpture , great for your patio or garden. The black and purple piece is an Apple Baker. The gray piece with a long handle is a coffee scope. The gray saucer has rough rings inside to grate garlic. The blue cat is a frog for flowers. Set the piece on top of a mason jar and it will space flowers nicely. Most of the pottery is for sale at South Water Manor in my Ravin Studio booth upstairs. With my painting, I am practicing drawing and painting with a watercolor brush with no line drawing to start with. For those of you who might be interested in watercolor painting, I post watercolor lessons on this blog site.. Go to the menu at the top of the home page and click on “Watercolor Lessons”. I teach a watercolor class two Fridays each month at Elevate 50 in. Hendersonville. This month we are painting flowers. The last class they painted a geranium with a dropper.

There are about ten ladies in the senior citizen group ( average age 75) and we have been painting for 2 years together. This was not one of their favorite painting exercises as they could not control the paint or outcome. Good news, we only spent 15 minutes on it and then they could go back to painting with a brush.
