Crock Pot Country Ham and Functional Kitchen Pottery

I am experimenting with a new glaze pattern using earth tone colors, light brown with a hint of green. This was a challenge for me, as I love bright colors. The pieces are designed to help organize your kitchen. There are a few new pieces that I have not made before, such as the piece that has 2. cylinders and a bowl which are attached for a scrub brush, liquid detergent, and the small bowl for the sink drain. Also, I made a paper towel holder which sits on your counter. My favorite piece is the 3 attached cylinders with a handle to hold your silverware, (great for parties). The top part of the chicken lifts off to make a candy dish. The piece that looks like a taco is a sponge holder. My husband is the cook in the family and he suggested that the oil jar fit nicely in your hand. I added dents in the clay for a better grip. He wanted the oil and vinegar set, so I promised to make another set in the next pottery load. All of the pieces below will be for sale in my Ravin Studio Pottery booth at South Water Manor in Gallatin. Crock Pot Country Ham

This is a great dish to take to an Easter Dinner. First of all, purchase a smoked picnic ham which will fit in your crock pot. Put a plastic liner in the crock pot for easy clean up. To prepare the ham, trim off the excess fat. Put the ham in the crock pot and prepare a glaze with the following ingredients. This ham is great served between Hawaiian rolls.

  • 1/2 small can of pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup of apple juice
  • 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup of dijon mustard

Pour the glaze over the ham and cook in the crock pot on low for 8 to 10 hours. Once done, carve and serve on a platter. There may be some fat that needs to be removed.

  1. Love the new pottery pieces! I’ve used this recipe before and can attest that it is a great recipe for an Easter, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Ham Dinner.
